Bespoke, contemporary upholstery.

We make beautiful chairs beautiful again.

Chairsmith [noun].

1. An artisan who manufactures or restores chair upholstery [1913 Webster].

In the world of flatpack, disposable furniture, most of us have forgotten what it feels like to sit on a proper chair.  Chairsmiths are a small upholstery workshop in the village of Tynemouth in North East England that specialise in brining life back into tired and un-loved chairs.  We're master craftsmen who use the finest materials and skills all but lost in these days of high volume production - we re-upholster chairs the way they were made in the first place, with care and dedication.

Re-upholstery gives the best of old and new - the fine quality feel of solid timber framed chairs, with real springs, but with fabrics to match the modern world.  If you've got a tired looking chair in the corner of your room, find out how we can bring it back to life.

Happy clients

Our customers are our best advert, here's what some of them have got to say...

The work Chairsmiths do is simply amazing, our favourite chair that was once almost ready for the bin now takes pride of place in our home once again.

I can't thank the team at Chairsmiths enough.  A very special re-upholstery of a very special chair that has been in our family for many years.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chairsmiths, they've transformed our chairs into works of art.  They truly care about each and every project they undertake.
